What could Too Far mean?

Do you ever wonder if all of the stuff we’re learning about the Gem homeworld is building up to anything? There’s a lot of season two remaining, after all, but we’ve already learned so much about the homeworld.

It’s just a thought—something to consider. Let’s wonder a bit about some stuff from Too Far, shall we?

What we learned from Too Far

Too Far was a good episode to leave us hanging with. It really finished what Back to the Barn started as far as lore is concerned, but still left us with plenty more to learn.

Ratings for Too Far

Well, the ratings were down again: 1,392,000 viewers watched Too Far. The time slot change probably didn’t help, but We Bare Bears had a good showing for Bear Bomb.

Here’s how the Cartoon Network premiers did:

  1. We Bare Bears at 6:30 with 1,589,000
  2. Steven Universe at 7:30 with 1,392,000
  3. Be Cool Scooby Doo at 7:00 with 1,368,000

Immediate reaction to Too Far

Two episodes in a row that tell us a lot about the homeworld’s views. Too Far didn’t spend as much time discussing them as Back to the Barn did, or at least didn’t address them so brutally, but we certainly have plenty to mull over. Plus… Listen. Can you hear it? It… It sounds like a train continuing its journey. 🙂

Aivi and Surasshu post: Robolympics

Aivi and Surasshu have posted another song from Back to the Barn: this time they’ve posted Robolympics (1:23) for us, the track where Pearl and Peridot compete for honor and glory!

What to expect from Too Far

Well it’s a lot harder to make a prediction about the episode than normal, but not for any lack of information. Since Too Far was aired at New York Comic Con before a large crowd of people, anyone who can’t resist spoilers knows exactly what’s in the episode. If you’ve vigorously kept yourself away from spoilers so far we don’t want to be the ones to break your streak, so all we’ll say is, once again, that the schedule has been changed from previous weeks and Too Far will air at 7:30 PM EDT on Thursday. Be there!

Time slot change: Steven Universe now airs at 7:30 PM eastern time

If you haven’t checked the weekly schedule then definitely make sure you do: not only does Steven Universe have re-runs again (as we suspected), but it’s been moved to 7:30 PM. Make sure you don’t miss Too Far when it premiers on Thursday, and enjoy Steven Universe’s return to the schedule.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 51: Back to the Barn

PodcastTitleSophia, Ken, GC13, and Hunter continue to conduct the Peridemption train and discuss Back to the Barn and the huge lore drop about Pearls (next stop, Pink Diamond Station!).

This was one of those big episodes. Of course everyone is excited about the confirmation of the Servant Pearl Theory, but we’re building robots now. Even if the episode was a bit predictable, Peridot learned an important lesson that is keeping her on track for joining the team full-time.

We can’t let all of the thrill of learning about homeworld distract from the fact that Steven Universe takes place in an alternate history: there are no holidays (that link to Mr. Burnett’s tweet is for when he un-protects his account), and the Americas were also probably settled much later.

The fourth-quarter break is almost upon us. Make sure not to miss Too Far on Thursday, because it will be the last episode for at least a little while.
