Immediate reaction to Gem Harvest

Gem Harvest is another episode that won’t be long-remembered for its lore (but it definitely will be long-remembered, don’t you worry about that!). Do you want to see the cast celebrate Thanksgiving without even having to mention the holiday? Because that’s what we got, and we’re definitely thankful for it!

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 113: Upcoming episodes

PodcastTitleGC13 is back with another solo episode, this time giving a brief discussion of what’s coming in Gem Harvest and Three Gems and a Baby. With the bonus informational stylings of an upcoming voice actress. You’re welcome.

We’ve actually seen a lot of Gem Harvest thanks to Comic Con—four minutes. It’s all setup though, so who knows where the episode will go from there? Especially with the commercial Cartoon Network is showing this week.

Three Gems and a Baby is sure to be sad. It might be another half-hour episode, but since it hasn’t been specifically announced as one it’s also possible that the schedule is just weird.

Finally, Ashly Burch is going to voice… Someone. Some time.

Looking back at The New Lars

thenewlarsUpon an initial viewing, The New Lars was some pretty intriguing stuff: Steven accidentally uses an upgraded version of his powers from Chille Tid and Kiki’s Pizza Delivery Service to assume direct control of Lars, then gives us a great look at Lars’s relationship with others. We even saw his parents for the first time (sorry Mr. Smiley).

Considering it after the revelation of Back to the Moon though… Well, we’ll get there eventually, won’t we?

This episode is probably most notable, actually, for its company with Island Adventure as an episode that makes some people wonder if Lars can ever catch a break with fans. It’s definitely a weighty subject, but to weigh in very briefly we think that The New Lars ends quite sympathetically for Lars.

As for the question of Koala or Sloth, that might be a question for the podcast.

New episode: Three Gems and a Baby to air on December 1, 2016

Thursday, December 1 will be a big day for Cartoon Network with premiers for all of its shows. Steven Universe’s contribution will be Three Gems and a Baby at 7:30 PM EST (not 8:30 as was initially reported), so stay on your toes and don’t miss it!

Three Gems and a Baby
Greg tells the story of his and the Gems’ first winter with Steven.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 112: Too Short to Ride

PodcastTitleGC13 discusses a favorite episode of the Steven Nuke: Too Short to Ride. Alas, there was no Alexandrite to be found (see podcast episode 60, 14:48 into it).

Still, with Peridot around there’s not much disappointment to be found (certainly there are no union benefits to be found for poor Mr. Smiley). She has some really cute moments earlier in the episode, then an emotional roller coaster as intense as the physical one she was too short to ride.

There were some interesting lore tidbits though: Peridot’s claiming of rarity and importance, despite not being all that tall. Even bigger though, word of a resource shortage on the Homeworld, then not long after evidence that there actually is no resource shortage—and that, again, the Diamonds are not the designers of the Gems.

The plot thickens.

Looking back at Too Short to Ride

tooshorttorideJust look at Peridot: this episode understands us. We forgive it for not being a Stevonnie episode, because at the very least it featured a roller coaster! (Still, not even a single Alexandrite joke? Step it up Crewniverse!)

This episode, despite being a fun romp (or two thirds of a fun romp) through Funland, actually dropped a big doozie of a lore bomb towards the end: according to Peridot, Homeworld is facing a resource shortage. Now not long after we got a great reason to think that wasn’t true, but it would be even more interesting if the cake resource shortage was a lie.

We also got a real-world Peridot Twitter account out of this episode! (It’s a good’un.)

Other than that, final thoughts? Good old Onion, says we.

New episode: Gem Harvest to air on November 17, 2016

Well, hype was right about this month: apparently Steven Universe will be back with Gem Harvest on Thursday, November 17 at 7:30 PM EST. It’s time to mark your calendar for the end of this smaller than average hiatus!

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 111: Mr. Greg

PodcastTitleGC13, Sophia, and Hunter discuss the most musical episode of a very musical series: Mr. Greg.

It’s everything we could have wanted: joy, sorrow, love—there’s even a sleazy Marty thrown in at the beginning! When can we go on our trip to Empire City? (Well, we probably couldn’t afford the singalong with the hotel staff—those cost somethin’.)

Though we do know that Greg still has quite a large fortune after this short vacation, it still hurts a bit to see how much money they threw away.

Greg and Pearl dancing their relationship into a better place though? Just say yes. (In the happy way Greg said it, not the sinister way Jasper said it.)
