Ratings for Catch and Release

Well, we’ve learned that pulling most of the premiers doesn’t help ratings, and that filling more than half of their schedule with Teen Titans Go! (they’re a fourteen-hour network thanks to the ten hours used for Adult Swim) doesn’t get the remaining premiers better ratings either.

Catch and Release, for all of its hype, only got 1,386,000 viewers, though that was still enough to get it the top spot. Here’s how the premiers looked:

  1. Steven Universe at 5:30 with 1,386,000
  2. Wabbit at 5:00 with 1,377,000
  3. The Ridonculous Race at 7:30 with 1,294,000

All of our yes.

Just be warned, this episode lived up to the hype surrounding it. It confirmed some previous theories, moved the plot forward big time, and people aren’t going to be able to contain themselves from spoiling it. Just watch the episode as soon as you’re able.

As for what lore we got out of it? Oh yes, we think we can manage some posts. Don’t you worry. 🙂

What to expect from Catch and Release

How hyped do you want to get? Could this be a Centipeetle episode as so many hope? The return of the Slinker? Peridot? Lapis? Ms. Zuke has said repeatedly on Twitter that this is one of her favorites.

The one thing that is hard to expect is a humdrum episode. The fandom is definitely hyped for something big to happen in this episode, so we’ll just have to wait and see if that hype is paid off.

Hmmmmmm… There might be some hype for this one, depending on what happens in Catch and Release. Cross your fingers and hope that there are no schedule changes that keep us from seeing this one in a timely manner, so we can watch it on Thursday, October 1 at 5:30 PM EDT.

This makes two episodes in a row where a character’s mother has featured prominently, so maybe we’ve finally fixed Beach City’s dearth of mothers. We also finally got a Sadie episode without Lars as an important character!

Of course the episode had to have a surprise twist to resolve the tension built up throughout the episode, so we got Steven singing while wearing Sadie’s outfit; Lars, not content to be anonymous, decided to be the only person at the concert not to pay attention. The Internet paid more than enough attention to make up for him though.

What could Ronaldo’s lecture mean?

Sadie’s Song is probably the episode with the distinction of having the least lore so far. Certainly no new facts we could really chew on. Ronaldo’s “act” for Beachapalooza, a lecture about “rock people”, how to identify them and defend yourself against them.

It’s not much, but we can wonder how much Ronaldo really knows.

Aivi and Surasshu post: Haven’t You Noticed (I’m a Star)

Ah, the fandom asked and they delivered (though surely they knew this request would come): Aivi and Surasshu have posted Haven’t You Noticed (I’m a Star) (1:07) from Sadie’s Song. You might recognize the singer as Olivia Olson, the voice of Marceline from Adventure Time.

Ratings for Sadie’s Song

There was less competition on the network this week, and without Teen Titans Go! running against it Sadie’s Song managed to top the Cartoon Network premiers with 1,495,000 viewers.

Here’s how the network premiers did:

  1. Steven Universe at 5:30 PM with 1,495,000
  2. We Bare Bears at 6:30 PM with 1,434,000
  3. Regular Show at 7:30 PM with 1,385,000
  4. The Ridonculous Race at 5:00 PM with 1,177,000

Well, it finally happened.

No, not a fusion. Once you’ve seen the episode, you’ll definitely know which “it” finally happened.

Also, bonus points for Sadie finally getting an episode where she doesn’t have to share the stage with Lars (though, unfortunately, she’s now sharing the stage with her mother).

We were denied what would certainly have been a fascinating lecture from Ronaldo, leaving this as a very character-centered episode. It will be quite the challenge to dig lore out of Sadie’s Song.
