Official soundtrack to be released on June 2, 2017

Cartoon Network has finally heard one of our many cries: on June 2, we’ll be getting an official soundtrack release of some kind. This comes a day after they tweeted out a poll asking if people wanted one. (Obviously we were getting one anyway, but we appreciate their use of hype.)

We still don’t have any information about which songs will be included, though Aivi has tweeted that she and Surasshu remastered the tracks that will be in the release.

As of now there are only plans for a digital release, but if you’re interested in seeing Steven Universe get a vinyl soundtrack release Ms. Sugar has tweeted her request that you let Cartoon Network know what you want. 🙂

If you want to listen to a preview, they tweeted a bit of the opening theme.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 134: Greg the Babysitter

GC13 and Sophia are hungry for babies! It’s time to talk about Greg the Babysitter!

Greg starts his flashback with a marvelous song (which has Rose being about as adorable as is legally allowed on television), and while we don’t learn anything really weighty in the plot it’s great to see what Rose was like in her casual hours (when not waging war to defend the Earth).

Sour Cream was apparently Super Baby back as a child, with not only the best possible face and voice but the ability to crawl up tall objects while offscreen. Can his powers of chill defeat Greg’s laser-sharp focus?

Steven Universe air times for April 10-16, 2017

No Steven Universe re-runs this week either, everybody. Maybe next week.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 133: Alone at Sea

GC13 and Sophia discuss Alone at Sea, the oh-so-heavy episode that starts out oh so light.

So of course the podcast starts out very heavy, discussing the very real-world relationship troubles that Lapis has been going through, and that Jasper brings back. This all happened because the ship was named the Misery—that has to be what did it.

Of course there are lighter things to discuss. GC13 and Sophia both hope that someone will explain the “What crackers go with caviar? Water crackers.” joke, because as it stands there is no satisfying explanation that makes the joke funny.

Steven Universe air times for April 3-9, 2017

No Steven Universe episodes this week. 🙁

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 132: Cartoon Network’s scheduling woes

GC13 is here with the intervention that Cartoon Network needs (when three shows can take up five sixths of the network’s week, something is terribly wrong).

Cartoon Network, as fans we just want one thing: more Steven Universe in the schedule. Surely it would be good for you too, as ratings have dropped by half during these troubles times. Variety is the spice of life, and people turn the TV off if they see an episode they just watched two days prior.

Things may be dark, but surely they will brighten up before too long: Save the Light will come out, and we still have an entire season to look forward to.

Steven Universe air times for March 27 – April 2, 2017

All times are EDT.

Saturday:
(Googly Eyes versions for all main characters on April 1!)
9:15 AM: Together Breakfast
12:15 PM: Joking Victim
7:15 PM: Cat Fingers

Looking back at Alone at Sea

Alas, it appears that poor Lil Lappy is doomed to always be the Misery and not the Happy Lappy. We know that as time goes on she cheers up a bit from her earlier days living free on Earth, but even as of Room for Ruby she’s still in an adjustment period (though obviously better off).

As fun as their time on the water was (Lapis really enjoys the ship’s horn, but who wouldn’t?), the really memorable part of the episode was when Jasper made her appearance. Screenshots of this were actually really hard to believe when they came out, considering Jasper’s facial expressions. Boy were they real though, and boy did we get quite the confrontation between Jasper, Lapis, and Steven.

Jasper’s quote about how while she is a brute, Lapis is a monster was fantastic. We may never see that side of Lapis, as she was in a very dark place while fused in Malachite. Hopefully we won’t, anyway…

This was another episode that went out of its way to provide real-world relationship advice (much like how Beach City Drift teaches you to deal with the Kevins in your life). Remember kids, you want to look out for the Great and Lovable Peridots out there.

As for final business, poor Mr. Greg ended up buying a boat. Hopefully he had renter’s insurance… Boats aren’t cheap, at least when you’re Mr. Greg. This is also the episode that opened the Jasper Saga. We’ll get a bit of a break with Greg the Babysitter, but then there are three Jasper episodes in a row before our next break.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 131: Monster Reunion

GC13 and Hunter talk about the episode that inched us that little bit closer to a cured Centipeetle. Maybe by season five we’ll learn for sure what her Gem name is! (Probably Nephrite, but probably not that Nephrite.)

While most of the episode is bright and happy, it goes to a dark place before taking us back to a pretty good ending for Steven and Centipeetle. If it hadn’t, then surely Steven would have had something else to face when Mindful Education came around…

So, who wants to see some real scenes from the Gem War on Earth? The crayon drawings just whetted the appetite.

Steven Universe air times for March 20-26, 2017

No re-runs this week again. (There was an hour scheduled for Sunday, but it was removed.)
