Immediate reaction to Space Race
Oh yeah, we’re definitely feeling oracular after this one. Not to spoil things too much for those who haven’t seen it yet, but we feel like we got pretty close to the mark yesterday.
So what’s affected? Both Backstory and Locations will have more information, though maybe not as much as we’d have dreamed. Still, some big answers came out of Space Race, so it’s a win for everyone.
As is usual Saturday we’ll post the more detailed lore implications, and Sunday we’ll post our speculation about what the facts we’ve learned might mean and how they fit into the broader lore.
What to expect from Space Race
Tomorrow we get to see Space Race. In the episode preview, we can see Steven and Greg working on a “space ship” that looks suspiciously like a soapbox car with either a sparkler or a firework rocket in the back, presumably after Pearl lamented the loss of her days of traveling the stars.
It’s anyone’s guess where they go with it. We’re sure to have official confirmation that the Crystal Gems themselves are, like Lapis, from another world. Mr. Burnett has indicated that we might even get confirmation that they haven’t left Earth yet, though that might just be implied by Pearl’s lament.
However, like all of the preview clips we don’t have any idea where the meat of the episode is going to come from. Will we get to see the Galaxy Warp for ourselves? Will Pearl resolve to build a spaceship herself? Simply a flashback episode where Pearl explains what it was like?
All of these possibilities are exciting, which is what makes us anticipate this episode so much.

Song of the week: Dad Museum
Greg has been pretty active lately in Steven Universe; he tagged along for Ocean Gem, had a major part in House Guest, and according to the promo will feature prominently in Space Race as well. We say that’s a good thing! To celebrate Greg’s recent activity, Dad Museum is this week’s song of the week.

What could House Guest mean?
So House Guest was kind of a short-and-simple episode as far as anything concrete went, but it was still able to raise a few questions.
What we learned from House Guest
Well obviously nothing’s going to compete with Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem for a while when it comes to dropping hints about the lore of Steven Universe. However, House Guest did offer up a little bit of wisdom about the show.
