Immediate reaction to Three Gems and a Baby

This episode was a bonanza for the timeline, giving us a pretty tight age range for a lot of characters (mostly confirming old guesses). We also got another good look at the Crystal Gems’ reactions to the loss of Rose, though there’s not as much new information in that.

We also award ourselves no points for predicting the sad Pearl.

    A couple things I noticed:
All the gems have stars on their outfits. All previous flashback episodes have had GAP in star-free outfits (although they were present on Garnet’s gauntlets). My pet theory is they donned stars as a tribute to Rose while she was pregnant (so I’m super happy that’s still viable).
Sour Cream looked reasonably aged, maybe elementary-school aged, which would make him at least 20 by now.
I doubt we’ve met the babysitter mentioned at the very end. All the adults are too old, and the Pizza twins not nearly old enough to have been teenagers when Steven was a tiny kid.

The cool kids are about six years older than Steven, so it’s feasible that someone of their age was Steven’s babysitter, though I’d bet that Steven was younger at the time than he’d have to be for that. Still, it could be.

Interestingly, looking at Bismuth it is likely the Crystal Gems all had stars in the past and removed them when the war ended. But Perhaps they put them on again for the reason you theorize.

I was actually surprised at how Amethyst seemed more confused and not as sad as I thought she would, especially considering her and Greg’s relationship as revealed in Maximum Capacity.
