Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 97: Week one of the Summer Adventure

PodcastTitleGC13, Sophia, and Ken get together to go over their initial thoughts about the first week of the Summer Adventure event: Steven FloatsDrop Beat DadMr. GregToo Short to RideThe New Lars, and Beach City Drift.

If you can’t find an episode in the event you loved, you probably aren’t looking very hard (you probably also didn’t watch Mr. Greg or Too Short to Ride). Even if some episodes were more controversial than others, there was plenty to enjoy.

Each week during the Summer Adventure event we’ll do an episode briefly going over the previous week’s episodes; once the event is done we’ll buckle down and start doing a full episode for each episode of the event (unless new episodes interrupt us!).

I wonder what are the limitations of Steven possesing ability, like…

Without taking in consideration how Steven is a cinanon bun and etc.
Can he be the perfect assasin and take someone body and just jump from a cliff or take the body of someone near and dear to the target, someone the person trust, and stab him the back?

Like, Steven could look at a photo of that person, and think really hard to “fix his life” or just enter the person body, and just go to sleep and only that?

Ok, for a more less murderous thinking, Steven maybe got too cocky with his people skills, after doing really well over and over again, good thing for him to learn with that mistake with someone like Lars.

Imagine him failing with dealing with people with someone like Connie, or even diplomacy with dangerous gem.

That Lars incident must have save his and everyone hide for giving this lesson.

One thing in common with everyone Steven has either mind read or taken over is that both individuals have a relationship with each other and presumably think about each other. Both Lapis and Jasper have Steven strong in their mind, Lars got angry at Steven just before leaving, and the watermelons were made by him and are fixated on him. Until proven otherwise, it seems Steven’s mind powers require a two-way connection.

Rebecca Sugar said that the reason that the people don’t really care about Steven’s powers is because everyone in the world is aware of the gems and aliens and such but they just don’t want to really want to get into it.

BUT THE ALIENS HAD GEMS ON THEIR BELLIES!!!! The delved into gem culture, as hinting as aliens are gems, and in the real world, those alien toys probably wouldn’t have any. It’s just humankind being, uhh, speciest? I don’t know a word that relates to racism in species, but humanity was obviously being biased as to “All aliens are gems.”

Hey-o Ken, Hello GC, Hiya Sofia~
Missed you a bunch, also, Ken 😀

Steven Floats: “We’ve already seen this episode a few weeks ago!”

Drop Beat Dad: “Played out plot that we’ve already seen before, but the main drive behind the “Greg is rich” saga.”

Mr. Greg: “It’s over, isn’t it?”

Too Short to Ride: “Amedot shippers rejoice and also Magneto-Peridot and Peridot having a real life twitter account.”

Beach City Drift: “It’s Kevin Time~! It’s also, Ronaldo knows a lot about cars, time? Also it’s, Kevin hits on Stevonnie *again*, time?”

      • Bugberry on July 26, 2016 at 12:22 pm

I don’t think Kevin was hitting on Stevonnie. He even knew they were two kids. He was more just being a cocky jerk that acted cool to get a rise out of someone.

12:00 I know exactly the frame you mean, GC. The frame where she says “you won” and turns back to the hotel room very slightly, that’s the frame where her hair is no longer messed up so I see what you mean.

Also, the way she was rapier-wielding that rose during the “Fusion, Freedom, Her Attention” leads me to believe that Rainbow Quartz’s weapon is a hand-guarded rapier sword.

I don’t know what Sophia means by Ronaldo’s action not being treated as annoying. Everyone does treat him as annoying, but the difference is that his actions are mostly harmless, where as Lars is openly and intentionally being a jerk, which is more harmful and needs to be addressed. Just look at how Steven summarized Lars as being the one to steal a donut while Ronaldo would buy the weird looking one.

You might have noticed that those alien plushes that Peridot wanted had gems on their bellies.

Steven at the beginning of Beach City Drift that Greg had been letting him practice driving.

I did notice the belly gems on the mid-sized alien plush (I’m guessing they take five rings?), but the big one that Peridot got didn’t have one.

Still, isn’t he just the best alien plush you’ve ever seen?

For me it’s always Kevin time!
Though he be a vainglorious d-bag, I can’t hate him.

I just love these episodes though. The only thing I didn’t expect was in Mr. Greg, the whole episode was musicals, and when the second one hit, I’m like “This is too spooky for me, man.” But I’d have to say Too Short to Ride was my favorite, especially Peridots face she makes when she gets the smartpad, just so adorable!
