Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 306: Small

GC13 and David discuss Small from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Hearts.

Don’t let the title confuse you: Small is Shin Mao’s big debut. Shin may not be that impressed by the kingdom or its king, but, well… His son comes out of the episode looking pretty impressive.

While we do get a lovely tour of the kingdom, it’s the monster fight that shines brightly in this episode (at least as brightly as Geraldine).

Ol’ Blue, or How Mao Mao Got His Therapist

Mao Mao’s issues with his father were severe enough to drive him to torment Ol’ Blue, lest there be a sweetypie who isn’t impressed by Mao Mao. But after Parker Simmons implied that maybe Ol’ Blue was more cunning than he let on, it’s been tough to look at him the same.

So is the best therapist in all of Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart really just that hard to impress, or was he just doing what he had to do to get Mao Mao to get the therapist he needed so badly? Let’s take a look at the bluest of the sweetypies and weigh the evidence.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 305: Pepper’s Blanket Is Missing

GC13 and David discuss Summer Camp Island’s mystery episode: Pepper’s Blanket Is Missing.

Sailors get shore leave, so obviously thieves get sailor leave. Who put that rule into the new camp guide? Oscar was probably there—he’s everywhere. If Lucy were there in boss mode, we’d probably have a very different policy.

Do you need nice attention? Make sure your friends know. All friends should be as nice as the bunch in Summer Camp Island.

The Cat and Amelia: Infinity Train’s Curious Duo

The mystery of The Cat endures through both books of Infinity Train so far, but perhaps we actually know a little bit more about her than we thought: maybe The Cat was Amelia’s companion back when she was first brought onto the Infinity Train to work out her grief over the loss of Alrick.

Except, as we’ve seen, their story doesn’t end up being a happy one. In the first book of Infinity Train we see that Amelia is quite, quite unkind to The Cat. Still, The Cat is the only denizen working for “The Conductor”, so clearly they have some kind of bond.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 304: BMO

GC13 and David discuss the first episode of Adventure Time: Distant Lands, BMO.

Well, surprises mount upon surprises when watching BMO. When going to distant lands, you don’t expect to see many familiar faces—or familiar feet, in this case. Still, it’s great to have a continuation of Adventure Time, and BMO managed to be an entertaining lead in the debut episode.

In Defense of Ronaldo, Steven Universe’s Comedic Prophet

Ronaldo might be Steven Universe’s most controversial character—sure, there are characters who get more hate, but they’re unambiguous villains. For whatever reason, Ronaldo’s antics as primary comic relief fail to amuse, and that leaves viewers much less willing to forgive him for his mistakes, even if Steven Universe is all about forgiveness.

So it’s time to take another look at Ronaldo. Does he really deserve his bad reputation, or is Steven Universe safe from having to chalk up another bad guy on its books?

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 303: Children of the Dog

GC13 and David discuss Children of the Dog from Craig of the Creek. We hope it’s not spoiling too much to mention that it’s the return of Brigid (it does have “dog” in the title…).

Not to take anything away from how funny Craig of the Creek usually is, but Children of the Dog is especially hilarious. Oh the gags, and the rapid pacing keeping them flowing so, so well.

Watch out though, We’ve Got Fleas from OK KO has some competition now.

Cartoon Network June 2020 Ratings Report

Cartoon Network only premiered a few new episodes in June, so it’s time to look back at 2020. Teen Titans Go had the best average ratings on Saturdays with 433k while Ben 10 topped Sundays with 340k. Steven Universe: Future, of course, got 614k on Fridays when it aired its final ten episodes.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 302: He’s the Sheriff

GC13 and David discuss He’s the Sheriff from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

What kind of king is King Snugglemagne? Obviously a bad one, but is he one doomed to failure, or does he have a chance to redeem himself? Obviously not as a sheriff (that job is terrible), but perhaps in some other way. Then there’s also the question of who could replace him as king? Obviously King Pinkie would be horrific, but would you rather see King Badgerclops or Queen Adorabat.

What I want to know is: where’s the caveman?

Rick and Morty’s Season 4 Ratings: Bad, But Not the End

Rick and Morty’s fourth season had a rocky reception, losing 45% of its viewers as the season went on. This is the first time a season of Rick and Morty has suffered such poor ratings, but will it be the last?

The first half of season four was responsible for a lot of “season four sucks” or “Rick and Morty is bad now”, but the second half got people saying good things about it again. Now that this team has experience writing for the show, hopefully Rick and Morty season 5 comes out with a strong first episode and a good rest of the season.
