Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 301: Monster Visit

GC13 and David carry on with Summer Camp Island, discussing Monster Visit from the first half of the first season.

It’s not hard to discern what Monster Visit is about: the discomfort caused when you try to be something you aren’t for the sake of pleasing others. Much more difficult to figure out is where the Godmonster gets her skulls from.

All of Summer Camp Island, including the second season, is available on HBO Max if you’d like to give it a watch.

She-Ra: The Final Season Discussion (Part One)

Though She-Ra has now ended, the Lunar Sea Spire crew’s love for the show will never die. In the first part of their discussion about the final season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, the crew goes deep on Catra’s final transformation. Additional topics include sacrifice, pyromania, and proper spinal injury treatment.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 300: Aang vs She-Ra vs Steven Universe

GC13, Sophia, Ken, and David settle a very special versus debate for a very special three hundredth podcast episode.

So despite being sweethearts, of course all three are perfectly willing to fight to win. The big question is who will be our winner? Aang, the Avatar, Adora, the She-Ra, or Steven, the bearer of the pink Diamond?

Listen on and celebrate with us. These three heroes are truly mighty, but only one can be the victor.

Mao Mao and Badgerclops: Two Tales of Friendship

Mao Mao and Badgerclops have lots of stories to tell—and lots of insecurities as well. Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart spends a lot of time giving our heroic duo chances to grow as people, because as good as they are at beating up bad guys, they still lack in confidence.

So let’s look at two stories that Mao Mao and Badgerclops tell and see what they get wrong about the stories. Their preferred methods of inaccuracy tell us a lot about the heroes of Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 299: Mortimer to the Rescue

GC13 and David discuss Mortimer to the Rescue from Craig of the Creek, the highest-rated weekly episode premier Cartoon Network had in May.

And what a thrilling episode it was! Mortimer finally got his time to shine, showing animal intelligence right up there with Appa from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Of course, some scouts showed less intelligence…

Wildernessa, druid (or was it ranger?) of the wilds, however, is far more in tune with nature. Not even she likely knows what secrets the Algae Abyss holds, however…

Cartoon Network May 2020 Ratings Report

Cartoon Network got the last of its weekly runs out of its system in May. Teen Titans Go wins the month again by airing a single two-parter, but Craig of the Creek wins the weekly premiers by a mile with a 361,000 viewer average. Thundercats Roar is far down to an average of 251,000, and while Total Dramarama also took a big hit it’s still at 310,000. Victor and Valentino managed to hang in there at 315,000.

Sunday’s numbers are all below 200,000 viewers: Bakugan at 191,00, Transformers Cyberverse at 185,000, and Power Players at 188,000. Even the last episode of DC Super Hero Girls’s run, #CrashCourse, could only manage 198,000 viewers.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 298: All By Mao Self

GC13 and David discuss All By Mao Self from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

Well, nobody said Mao Mao was the brightest upcoming legendary hero, did they? He’s fast, he’s incredible with a sword, but his powers of self-delusion are worthy of being commemorated in song.

Until Lady Legasus shows up to challenge, Mao Mao will hold on to the title for buffest legs in a cartoon. Ultimate Ringo also awaits in the Ringo Zone.

Vindicators 3: My Favorite Rick and Morty Episode

Vindicators 3 may not be the most popular episode of Rick and Morty around (see what it did to the poor Whirly Dirly Conspiracy), but, I’m sorry, it’s my favorite episode of the series.

Of course trying to explain why something is your favorite episode is actually pretty hard. So why does Vindicators 3 stand out for me among all of the other episodes of Rick and Morty? I suppose we’ll just have to look at a few of its positive attributes.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 297: Moon Problems

GC13 and David discuss Moon Problems from Summer Camp Island.

Oh what a mess a lost friendship bracelet can cause. Would you have gone looking for it, or would you have partied with the ice cream sandwiches? Whatever you choose, hopefully Susie ends up getting her new hair style (pancake, you will be remembered).

Showbiz friends may not be real friends, but we make it sound good.

Steven Universe’s Glass of Time: Steven and the Stevens Had a Happy Ending

Even after the end of Steven Universe: Future, people still wonder if Steven and the Stevens secretly had a dark ending. There were a lot of Stevens that disappeared when the Glass of Time was destroyed, and we know Steven is pretty crucial to Earth’s safety in the main Steven Universe timeline. If there were any timelines missing their Steven, they’d be a lot less happy.

Thankfully, Steven Universe’s flirtation with time travel has a happy ending: Stevens weren’t snatched from alternate timelines in Steven and the Stevens, they were created with magical sand. This is why the Diamonds never tried to use the Glass of Time to save Pink from being shattered: it can only create a new past, never alter the real one.
