The mystery of The Cat endures through both books of Infinity Train so far, but perhaps we actually know a little bit more about her than we thought: maybe The Cat was Amelia’s companion back when she was first brought onto the Infinity Train to work out her grief over the loss of Alrick.
Except, as we’ve seen, their story doesn’t end up being a happy one. In the first book of Infinity Train we see that Amelia is quite, quite unkind to The Cat. Still, The Cat is the only denizen working for “The Conductor”, so clearly they have some kind of bond.
