Rare is the Steven Universe episode that doesn’t try to sneak at least some little nugget of wisdom past us, and The Test isn’t about to break with tradition. We learned a fair bit from the episode, but there are also the more subtle hints that require a bit of teasing out and more time to see how accurate they turn out to be.
This has certainly been an interesting week for Steven Universe’s schedule. However there has been another update to the weekly schedule: Sunday, January 25, 2015 will see two big blocks in both the morning and the evening.
Also, the good signs we observed on Monday have turned out to be accurate. While the week of January 26-February 1 is still not scheduled to have any re-runs of Steven Universe, starting on February 2 all normal re-runs seem to be back in their old places in the schedule.
The Test was kind of an important episode for us. The first test was taken at the site’s namesake, after all! The preview was enough to make it clear that there was no funny business involved with the lunar sea spire, though alas a magical resurrection doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
As for the titular test in The Test? Ah, it was a good one, and like always it gave us some good material to comb through looking for clues about the show’s lore.
This is definitely a good episode to watch unspoiled. Its point is wonderful, and it’s not a bad idea to make sure you see it fresh the first time.
We’ll have to mull for a while whether we want to call what we’re thinking of more concrete lore or more speculation, but this episode has at least one important takeaway for Steven.
More Peridot, this time battling two of the artist’s OCs with a very nice background. Check out the full-size version on DeviantArt!
We’ve been looking forward to this. The preview has already made it clear that the test at the Lunar Sea Spire was just opportunistic, so the site’s namesake is still legitimate (though still unfortunately collapsed and underwater).
This episode could go a lot of ways. Really it’s a fantastic chance to highlight how Steven has grown as a hero since the early days of the series: not just the massive suite of powers he’s acquired, but how much better at making decisions he is (it’s hard to imagine New Steven tuning his ukulele while immediately under threat now).
Also, maybe a little bit of an Indiana Jones-style boulder run just for good measure? Please don’t let that one be Steven’s imagination.
This one should be good. Maybe if we’re really good the lore fairy will teach us a little bit about Garnet. At the very least we should finally get a taste for how powerful she actually is (which we’re guessing the answer is “really”). Be sure to check it out on Thursday, January 29 at 6:30 PM EST.
Future Vision
Steven learns that Garnet can see into the future and becomes curious about the possible dangers that lurk around him.
Another track from Alone Together has just gone up. Twilight Run (0:40) is now ready to be listened to on Aivi and Surasshu’s Soundcloud page.
