Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 70: Coach Steven

PodcastTitleGC13, Sophia, and Dakota (who is finally back in the real way) get back to the retro episode discussions and discuss our second fusion sighting: Coach Steven.

It was a long wait over the summer for Coach Steven, but everyone agrees we got a great episode out of the deal with Nicki Minaj doing a great vocal performance for another impressive fusion. Plus: spontaneous singing.

Of course if Sadie is destined to divorce Lars (as determined by Steven’s future vision), the question remains: who is right for her? Sophia is admanant that Ronaldo the Wise isn’t right for anyone, so that rather limits Sadie’s choices.

What could #StevenBomb4 mean?

We got The Answer (and more answers as well!), but you can never have an episode that gives you answers without delivering a heaping helping of questions. What chance would five episodes have of foiling fate? Here’s what we’ll be wondering about soon:

Shapeshifting
We know that Steven can shapeshift now (remember, he was stretching his arms and legs), and Peridot has briefly spoken about it as well.

The Great Diamond Authority
Ronaldo got the name right, so what else could he be right about? Also, of course we have to talk about Pink Diamond, since it seems very much intended as a mystery right now.

What did we learn from #StevenBomb4?

We haven’t had a #StevenBomb yet that didn’t give us some juicy information, but #StevenBomb4 was a particularly juicy set of episodes: we got history, we got Diamonds, and we got still more looks at the Gems themselves. Here’s what we’ll be writing about soon:

The homeworld
It’s been five thousand years and despite huge advanced in other technology they’re still using the same communication method. There is also more evidence for just how stratified their social hierarchy is, and a fluid distinction between a Gem as an individual and a grouping of those with the same gem.

The Gems
Beyond how they organize as a society we’ve learned a bit more about the Gems themselves. We’ve finally seen (and heard described) a confirmed fusion of multiple Gems of the same type, we know their purpose, and another ability they have specifically to help them serve that purpose.

The Earth
The initial plan for the Earth colony was quite impressive. The Gems were going to spare no effort to efficiently make use of everything they could to make Earth suit their needs.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 69: #StevenBomb4

PodcastTitleStevenBomb4GC13 and Sophia recap #StevenBomb4. It was definitely one heck of a way to end a three-month-long hiatus, and dropped some pretty big plot bombs on us. Two Diamonds, a drawing of a third, two Pearls, many Gem silhouettes, some new Gem installations… It was very good as a late present to the fandom.

It’s a lot to take in, but it sure was one heck of a ride.

Where do we go from here? Onto a break, but for how long? #StevenBomb2.0 had us go on break for about a month then right back into #StevenBomb3. We’d really prefer weekly episodes, but if the new episodes are in #StevenBomb5 then we’ll be there.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 68: Log Date 7 15 2

PodcastTitleStevenBomb4GC13 and Sophia discuss the final episode of #StevenBomb4: Log Date 7 15 2. We needed an episode like this after all of the lore, good and character-focused. Sure there’s a bit of what looks like foreshadowing, but we’re here for the fun!

It’s tough to pick an MVP between Opal, Camp Pining Hearts, or the great and lovable Peridot. The green Canadian flag was also interesting to see (though somehow managed to pass by without comment).

So Peridot’s actions in Message Received seem a bit more reasonable to any of her doubters after the flashback episode, which lasted at the very least for weeks of time, wherein Peridot learned lessons like a reverse-Little Butler.

And she’s a shipper too. Crew have mercy.

Immediate reaction to Log Date 7 15 2

This wasn’t so much a lore episode, but we really needed time to settle down and digest what we’d already learned. That doesn’t mean there’s not something to be excited about, though! Opal!

Plus we’ve learned that Peridot is a shipper.
