Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 395: Once Upon A Swap (from The Owl House)

GC13, Soren, and David discuss Once Upon A Swap from The Owl House.

Whether you’re a fan of body swap episodes or not, this Freaky Fraturday mixup takes you to some strange places. Like the inside of a police station. But it’s still fun to see friends live out their friends’ lives, even if nobody has it as easy as anyone initially thought.

Just… Maybe don’t eat the cupcakes at the cat cafe. Not if you value your mind, anyway…

Cartoon Network March 2022 Ratings Report

Another quiet month passed on Cartoon Network. We only got ratings for Teen Titans Go and Victor and Valentino in March, but maybe Cartoon Network will give us something juicier next month…

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 394: Dating Season and Anne vs Wild

GC13 and David discuss Dating Season and Anne vs Wild from Amphibia.

Amphibia is a strange, messed up world. Between their bizarre, exploitative courtship rituals and their idyllic campgrounds with such wimpy amenities as potable water, it’s a miracle they can get anything done.

Luckily the episodes have back to back guest voice actors, and Anne has a peony princess bath bomb in her backpack just in case some very muddy but also very cannibal frogs try to eat everyone.

Follies at the Coven Day Parade Brought a New Status Quo to The Owl House for Season 2B

The Owl House started off Season 2B with a bang by airing Follies at the Coven Day Parade. We’ve met a new coven head, Terra Snapdragon, and it seems she’s Belos’s new enforcer. Look out Kiki, you’re on thin ice! The Owl House might be seeing a new turncloak soon…

But that’s not all. The end of Follies at the Coven Day Parade means The Owl House Season 2B also has us wondering why Emperor Belos claims never to have met Luz before. I’m pretty sure he’d remember what she did. Put on your tinfoil hats, because The Owl House looks to be cooking up a conspiracy.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 393: Lost in Language

GC13, Soren, and David discuss Lost in Language from The Owl House.

Spoiler alert if you’re not up to date with The Owl House, but Lumity began here. Why be someone’s rival if you can befriend and romance them instead?

And in addition to setting us down that path, we also met the Blight Twins. They may not be at their nicest here, but they play Luz like a fiddle and we get to see some pretty amazing magic as a result. All’s well that ends well, right?

Emperor Belos’s Arc: The Owl House’s Current Big Bad Follows Eda’s Lead

Emperor Belos rules the Boiling Isles with an iron fist. As The Owl House has shown us though, he has difficulty ruling his own body. This is something Eda has some experience with, and in the most recent episodes she’s experienced something of a breakthrough.

Depending on how The Owl House progresses we may see Belos faced with a similar choice. Is he the kind of guy to take it though? How pessimistic is The Owl House willing to be?

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 392: Susie and the Babies

GC13 and David discuss the Susie and the Babies arc from Summer Camp Island’s fifth season.

Three more babies now know their magical identifies (or lack thereof): Oliver, Alexa, and Lem. Hopefully Susie can keep Alexa and Pepper separated, or else things might get lucky.

And to top it all off now we might even have a hint that maybe the summer camp is actually old, like it appeared to be before Jimjams told us the story in season three. Are you confused yet?

Kid Cosmic, Season 3, and Comic Book Writing

Season 3 of Kid Cosmic starts out with our characters living out the Kid’s dream: Kid Cosmic and the Local Heroes have become Kid Cosmic and the Global Heroes, and they have the Planet Protection Group behind them.

It’s not just that Kid Cosmic is living his dream though: he’s living IN a dream. Kid Cosmic Season 3 does something clever to warn you about this though: yes, first Papa G and then Jo are convinced that something is wrong, but it also uses comic book writing to make the third season FEEL very different from Kid Cosmic’s first two seasons.

When did YOU start agreeing that things weren’t right?

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 391: Sprig vs Hop Pop and Girl Time

GC13 and David discuss Sprig vs Hop Pop and Girl Time from Amphibia.

The Plantar family sure has some crazy rituals, doesn’t it? They don’t need your suggestions for that, but Hop Pop will be happy to read them anyway. Jeremy really taught him a lot.

And Anne finally got that stick out of her hair. For just one episode, we knew what it could look like.

Rest in peace Slippy. (He slipped.)

Cartoon Network February 2022 Ratings Report

Sure, Cartoon Network only aired premiers of two series in February, but they also aired their special edition of the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. Is it spoiling things to say that the slam dunk contest topped the network’s premiers for ratings this month with the Teen Titans hosting them?

But not only do we have the ratings for the slam dunk contest, we also have a very curious bomb for Total Dramarama, and an actual episode of Teen Titans Go as well.
