Immediate reaction to Friend Ship

Ooooh, this one has some really good nuggets in it. Pearl confirms a bit of what we figured about the role Pearls fill in Gem society, we learn about ancient Gem space travel, and we learn that the Crystal Gems never went through with obliterating the Galaxy Warp.

Also, dark implications about Earth’s impending fate… What could the homeworld be cooking up?

When they were down in the pit together. I just caught so many feels.

I love/hate Peridot. She’s so annoyingly funny! XD

    • treetown1 on July 17, 2015 at 5:45 pm

Peridot losing a foot and that foot remaining solid and in existence and not poofing out suggests that her physical form is NOT wholly a manifestation of her energy (unlike the bodies of the CGs) – so does that mean the Homeworld Gems are now “cyborg” or “bionic”? – We’ve seen all of the CGs poof and comeback and their forms are all energy projections – not actual physical bits. So maybe that was what Lapis meant about how Homeworld has changed dramatically – they are all not pure gems but combinations/augmentations with tech.

I think it is always the same hand used for flying and fighting – so maybe that is a special augmentation.

So does losing the foot unbalance Peridot?

Well the hypothesis you’ll hear me bring up in tomorrow’s episode is that Peridot simply created her form with the knowledge that she’d be augmenting her body with a suit. It makes sense, as the Gems have the ability to make materials even more durable than the projections their gems make, and they won’t have to waste space by hollowing out a spot for her to put in a foot that she doesn’t actually have to have.

I am kind of wondering how she’ll deal with the loss of the foot, though. I wonder if she’ll make another.

The home world probably genetically engineered that line of peridot to only form a head so the home world could attach detachable parts for convenience

What if Peridot didn’t poof her foot so she could use it to find out how they are tracking her? Sneaky is Peridot’s middle name, if she had one.

That makes total sense, great theory!

        • treetown1 on July 18, 2015 at 9:57 am

Could be – it seems that she already knows that her use of the warp pads is being monitored.
The dependency on tech mentioned by XXBongQueeshaxX maybe both an advance and liability. It allows the homeworld gems to have very powerful augmentations – imagine a hardwired smartphone as part of your hand – but it might limit them in their abilities to create energy forms – they lack the practice or maybe over the thousands of years, can’t manifest the type of changes the CGs can.

Disappointing. Too short, the resolution of the pearl-garnet conflict too convenient, quick, and unbelievable. Peridot’s escapes are growing tiresome and repetitive. She does not seem a fighter yet she continually outmaneuvers them all. Get on with it already.

South America confirmed! Specifically, the pinpoint on the projected globe was there.

      • Scott on July 18, 2015 at 12:49 am

Also apparently no connection to North America, as there was water where Panama would connect the two continents, and two huge islands off the coast of Brazil, where none exist in our world.

its a hologram , it keeps the world simple

          • Scott on July 19, 2015 at 11:34 pm

A hologram by super advanced space travelers. They wouldn’t have wrong maps, or make take “artistic license” with their projections.

I am so glad Steven finally stopped the foot! Anyone? Anyone?
As for Earth’s fate, maybe that’s what Peridot meant by last time when she said she had already gotten what she needed?
I can hardly wait for the next episode! I really hope they air an episode a week, these Steven Bombs are wearing me out.

My theory is that there were too many pearls defecting so the home world came up with replacement pearls , such has perdiot or another type of gem before her, built with nasty personality’s so they wouldn’t defect , or at least try to knowing the effects of there actions. The Pearl would defect knowing that they could get killed in the process of doing so.

Diamond Quadratic Authority symbol spotted below crusher chamber screen!

Pink color theme on functional tech suggests Rose Quartz owned ship.

Communicator had call lag, you can hear Stevens lag after he talks to Peridot.

    Amethyst wins MVP this episode.

Pearl is “just a Pearl”…a lost, defective Pearl.

Confined space Fusion Dance confirmed *shimmy shimmy*.

Peridot uses “clod” as an insult. A clod is a lump of loose dirt, possibly insulting to Gems specifically. Clod = Retarded?

      • XxBongQueeshaxX on July 18, 2015 at 6:29 am

gems are… to put it simply lumps of rocks , comparing them to lumps of dirt is just an insult , bot necessarily retarded , just a comparison to tease. And NO Amethyst win MVG for this episode!

Do you think Peridot is a robot with a gem or half robot and half gem?

I, personally, think she’s a gem projecting a body made to accept robot parts. I guess the biological equivalent would be a genetically engineered creature made without limbs specifically so they could give it cybernetic limbs instead.

      • Emerald on July 18, 2015 at 1:33 pm

I think she has a robot suit and projects the minimum amount she can, I say this might be true because the only time she has shown pain is when Steven smacked her in the head with the shield. She said ow, not even when Pearl knocked her off the side of the cliff did she look or act pained, in other words, aim for the head!!!! But yeah thats just my thoughts on it.
