Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 13: Joy Ride

PodcastTitleGC13, Ken, and Dakota discuss Joy Ride, the second episode to air which was produced as part of season two. The upcoming crossover episode between Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa, Say Uncle, also comes up: get ready, it’s coming!

Are Sour Cream and Onion step-brothers or half-brothers? Did we see Peridot walking down the road as Steven and the cool kids drove past? Can the Crystal Gems really hover in the air or is that just part of the great diamond conspiracy? Don’t look to us for answers: we just want to see you laughing in the pizza rain.

So this leaves us with Say Uncle airing this week. The previews look like they made it work, so let’s see what happens when a reality warper shows up on the beach with a mind to help Steven with his Gem powers.

If the gems could fly, then why would Pearl climb up mountains in Giant Woman and Rose’s Scabbard.

Also, when Pearl was “hovering” in the air in front of Sugulite, the speed lines show she was just moving upward and forward due to momentum.

I would believe that the gems could make themselves lighter with slight shapeshifting.

    Also, GC, I think you’ll like this~

In regard to “Say Uncle”, I love how Steven already seems to know who Uncle Grandpa is, like all children in the world do. I love how the gems don’t know who he is. I seriously hope that Garnet or Pearl writes him off as an interdimensional entity or imp.

Yes I do like it. ^_^

Pearl better watch out if Peridot joins the team: she’ll have her first real strong competition for Best Gem.

      1. I like that, too.

Still weary of the idea of Peridot joining the team (at least at this point), but I’m intrigued that she didn’t show up in this one.

Also, love the podcast. Why aren’t you guys on iTunes yet?

        1. Oh wait….

You found the iTunes link? 🙂

Don’t worry, I missed it at first too.

I’m looking forward to the return of the “Magic Bees” from Future Vision in Say Uncle.

Also, I want the following people to hang out:

Garnet + Mister Gus (the tough logical calm guy)

Amethyst + Pizza Steve (the fun irresponsible guy)

Pearl + Belly Bag (the voice of reason also the one who just pulls stuff out of magical hammerspace)

Lion + Giant Realistic Flying Tiger (the animal companion)

Steven + Uncle Grandpa (the protagonist)

maybe a relation between Sour Cream and Pearl would be if the theory of Pearly being the IT crew model 1.0 before Peridot became the 2.0 is true, she wanting to do something other than being the one her superiors or something, want her to be.

    Let her be a Speargem!

Sorry for my english, my main language is from Brazil, and i have a headache for now.

Also, in the scene of Joy Ride where Jenny goes: “Hold on.” right before driving into the field, the camera zooms out and wee see them drive into the field. In that scne, there is a shape in the bottom right that resembles a rock. Upon closer inspection it resembles Peridot’s hair from the side with her face in the center. I came to this conclusion by assuming that Peridot is about as tall as one of the teens. The shape and the small black body underneath it seem to be the same size as Sour Cream’s small self in that same frame. I think that if Peridot joins the team in the future, she’ll give a “Where I’ve Been” story and part of it will be that she avoided detection by a “spotted vehicle” going toward her escape pod.

I have to say that I think there’s a lot more evidence for onion as a literal onion than as yellow diamond. I’m not convinced that Yellowtail is one, though. He has no visible ears but also a hat and lots of hair. I personally thought that maybe Rose let him keep Onion because he wanted a son so bad, or maybe even created him specifically FOR Yellowtail. We never heard the watermelons talk either and his lack of resemblance to Rose could be because she made him special or just because she was better at it than Steven. I’m not saying he’s for sure a literal onion but he’s for sure NOT yellow diamond.

BTW I literally shouted “SOUR CREAM AND ONION” at the scream when Sour Cream started talking about his stepdad.

Oh my goodness, if Peridot’s weapon turns out to be a spear or lance of some kind, then I’m going to fully accept that Pearl and Peridot are widely produced Tech Model Gems or Companion Gems made to serve stronger gems. Pearl was 1.0 and Peridot is 2.0. They both have gems on their heads. they both are the smart ones, they both are the techie members of their groups, and they both have a gem that starts with P (not an important detail).

So is there also a “Planet of the Peridots”?

      • gc13 on March 31, 2015 at 1:41 pm

If there is, then it’s probably the best planet in the world to be on if you’re having computer troubles. Just make sure it’s plugged in first before you call, or… Well, just make sure it’s plugged in before you call.

Gems can’t fly but they do have the ability to jump gray distances and slow their decent

Lapis water wings were basically disabled with her gem broke but she could still use basic hydrokenesis

I can’t really see Peridot joining the gems unless she does so out of fear and will probably double cross them the second the status quo changes.

Of course Jasper isn’t going to join though Lapis is a possibility

Uncle Grandpa sounds like it’ll be a nice episode. Just stay positive about it
