We really like Steven Universe getting half an hour every evening again. Next week we’ll be able to see The Test at 6:30 PM EST on January 22, 2015. This episode premise intrigues us, and not just because it involves the Lunar Sea Spire!
The Test
Steven finds out that his mission to the Lunar Sea Spire was a test and demands a new one.

Well obviously I’m super-interested in it too, having named the site after the Lunar Sea Spire. 🙂
I hope they really drive home how much Steven has grown as a character in The Test. He may still be a kid, but I think he has it a lot more together (breakfast) than he did at the beginning of the series.
Another super-important question: just how much of a test was it, and how far in advance did they plan it? Oooh. The plot thickens.
Ahh… I see what you did there XD
Well. Rewatching the episode I think that the gems planned it at the very least with some anticipation. The even greet steven with the lunar statue in hand. And at the end of the episode they console him saying that even though the tower was destroyed it was more because of the water damage and not because of him.
I think that test was to prove if Steven was ready to take full responsabilities as a gem. Of course he failed because he was still very inexperienced and easily distracted. Still, that test proved that he is able to think outside the box and provide unusual solutions to problems. Which is a valuable skill.
I’d wager that he’d still fail another test. But not out of immaturity, but out of inexperience. Still, I think this episode will be a good oportunity to make some comparisons of Steven as a character and how much he has grown (and how much he still has to grow).
