Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 335: The Haunted Campfire

GC13 and David discuss The Haunted Campfire from Summer Camp Island.

Well it took twenty-four episodes, but we finally got to see the Summer Camp Island spin on the ghost stories around a campfire episode.

If your worst fear is a ghost made out of toast who has to be the most handsome person in the room, you’ve definitely graduated beyond bumblebees. Congratulations Oscar.

Cartoon Network January 2021 Ratings Report

Cartoon Network was very sparing with its episode premiers in January 2021, but we did get premiers for four shows: Bakugan: Battle Planet, Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans Go!, and Total Dramrama.

With so few premiers to look at the ratings for, we also have plenty of time to look at how poor the ratings are compared to even just one year ago.

Lunar Sea Spire episode 334: Sugar Berry Fever

GC13 and David discuss Sugar Berry Fever from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, aka the origin of the Golden Truth.

While it’s true that Mao Mao definitely had the fever in this episode, this isn’t the only time he’s abused his power as sheriff. If only King Snugglemagne weren’t plotting something, perhaps Mao Mao could be stopped. Or maybe he couldn’t be; his outfit is ideal for committing crimes, after all.

What is the Barrier? Infinity Train’s Mirror World

Introduced in the Chrome Car, Infinity Train’s Reflection Enforcement is devoted to protecting the barrier between the mirror world and the prime world. Except, what damage have we ever seen done to the barrier? And why is it that they’re so eager to cross the barrier repeatedly to get one sliver content to live on the other side? There has to be something more to it.

Infinity Train’s mirror world comes up a lot in the second season, yet so much of it is still a mystery. Still, what’s a theory without some evidence to back it up? Even if Infinity Train never delves into the mirror world again, there’s a lot we can say.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 333: Castle Crawl

GC13 and David discuss Castle Crawl from Glitch Techs. We hope you like Castlevania episodes: you’re watching one!

If you ever question just how much Glitch Techs loves gaming, Castle Crawl is your go-to episode. We certainly love gaming too, and neither of us is going to let the fact that we’ve never played Castlevania before stop us from discussing the episode!

Pencil Break Mania: Craig of the Creek’s Wrestling Episode

Sooner or later every cartoon gets a wrestling episode. Well, Craig of the Creek has Pencil Break Mania to keep to that tradition. Matt Burnett and Ben Levin – the creators of Craig of the Creek – are big fans of wrestling, so you can be sure that Pencil Break Mania remains true to the sport.

That said, how many fans of cartoons are fans of wrestling? How many fans of Craig of the Creek understood all of the loving references Pencil Break Mania contained, or even the basic wrestling rules, storylines, and tropes? Well, that’s what we’re here to go over.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 332: Director’s Cut

GC13 and David discuss Director’s Cut from Summer Camp Island.

Yes, it’s here: the herald of lore for Summer Camp Island. Whether you think there’s been a retcon or not, this is where we learned about the island’s status as a refuge for the magical creatures of the world.

You can scale all of the rad cliffs you want, but you might not want to ask Howard what he’s grumbling about.

Susie and Ramona: Summer Camp Island, Steven Universe, and Making Theories

When I made my video, Susie’s Lament, the first season of Summer Camp Island was finished. With forty episodes to analyze, I came up with a tantalizing theory about Susie, Ramona, and Hedgehog; with just its first four, Summer Camp Island’s third season was able to bring my theory collapsing to the ground.

Theories are fragile things: a theorist can only move so far away from what’s already been written, while the show writer can go wherever they wish. My theory about Susie, Ramona, and Hedgehog may be gone, but I’m going to keep on theorizing, whether it’s about Summer Camp Island, Steven Universe, or any other show I love.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 331: Orangusnake Begins

GC13 and David discuss Orangusnake Begins from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

It’s a fully loaded episode: the tragic origin story of Orangusnake, an epic final boss battle (and with sixteen episodes to go in the first season!), and a dark tale of emotional manipulation.

Thank goodness Adorabat took her training so seriously.

Cartoon Network December 2020 Ratings Report

Another year at Cartoon Network has ended, and this time they didn’t give us very many weekly episodes. What they did give us were bombs, bombs, bombs! December saw premiers for Teen Titans Go!, DC Super Hero Girls, Craig of the Creek, Total Dramarama, Thundercats Roar! (just the Christmas episode), Apple and Onion, and Bakugan: Battle Planet.

December also saw five movies air on Cartoon Network, but what everyone wants to see is how the ratings did over the past six months. We also make sure to take an interesting look at how DC Super Hero Girls and Ninjago did in their different time slots.
