Immediate reaction to When it Rains

Well this episode turned out to be just about everything we could have possibly hoped for. We learned so much, got a lot of character development packed into a very short time without feeling overwhelming, and got some serious promises for what’s going to happen next.

It’s just… Wow. There was an idle prediction made about the Cluster, but it’s tough to realize that it was right.

A special shout-out to the responders to our Tumblr post about predictions for When it Rains: everyone was in agreement that Steven and Peridot would bond well, and they did. No fake-outs from the Crewniverse this time. Go team, and GO GREEN MOM!

What to expect from When it Rains

It would be perfect for When it Rains to be a character episode. Peridot has only just moved in with Steven, so naturally the next episode should focus on her as a character. The Crystal Gems are out of the picture for most of this episode, if the commercial and preview are to be believed, so it looks like a nice episode focused on Peridot and Steven is what we’re getting.

Of course Peridot’s ominous “it’s happening!” makes it sound like we’ll be getting a healthy dose of exposition along with our character episode. It’s still a bit early to unleash the Cluster though, so we’re expecting a few more episodes building it up before it’s finally released.

New episode: Back to the Barn will air on October 8, 2015

There’s just so much to wonder about: the form the Cluster will take, the fate of Peridot’s limb enhancers, and why Peridot is so adorable and smol! The Crystal Gems look awesome, and Peridot is one playful kitty.

Ratings for Catch and Release

Well, we’ve learned that pulling most of the premiers doesn’t help ratings, and that filling more than half of their schedule with Teen Titans Go! (they’re a fourteen-hour network thanks to the ten hours used for Adult Swim) doesn’t get the remaining premiers better ratings either.

Catch and Release, for all of its hype, only got 1,386,000 viewers, though that was still enough to get it the top spot. Here’s how the premiers looked:

  1. Steven Universe at 5:30 with 1,386,000
  2. Wabbit at 5:00 with 1,377,000
  3. The Ridonculous Race at 7:30 with 1,294,000
