Sardonyx is a star of the episode (perhaps even the lead, much to her later dismay), so it’s only natural to talk about her. What kind of fusion did you expect out of Garnet and Pearl after seeing what Opal and Sugilite were like?
Still, the fusion-to-fusion sitdown does characterize them both very well, with Smoky Quartz having plenty of time to feel insecure and Sardonyx providing the backdrop for the chat.

I want rhodonite and padparadcha to fuse into a wonky sardonyx with distorted music.
Also if rutile, pearl, and peridot fused each head could have a gem.
I’m still waiting for a Know Your Fusion follow up that just pairs together as many characters as possible in 11 minutes to give me official versions of as many fusions as possible.

Maybe they can encounter a causality distortion field and all of the possible Crystal Gem fusion combinations have to come together and have a Forever Red style teamup episode to fix things.
Sardonyx is garnet’s self love and Pearl’s urge to seek approval by showing off or shooting the curve, so to say.
Also I had a theory that the timeline for gem culture and the rebellion is measured by “gem years” and that it’s actually only 2000 years or so. That would place the rebellion around the time that pearl could learn about the concept of knights from humanity.
Also imagine sardonyx in jester garb, yes.
Smokys yo-yo doesn’t need to hook onto things, when she grapples with it I’m earthlings it just kinda attaches on its own.
