Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 105: Onion Gang

PodcastTitleGC13 and Hunter discuss the last new episode of Steven Universe before the new break in the schedule, Onion Gang.

So we can finally put Onion into context: he’s definitely not the only strange kid around, it’s just that he doesn’t get to meet up with his friends when it isn’t summer time.

The episode is cute, and so is Onion’s gang of friends. Well, mostly. When they’re not egging Steven on to execute the winner of the bug race. Who knows what the deal with that was?

Anyway, back to reviewing old episodes! There are two season one episodes left that don’t have podcast episodes, and a whole bunch of Steven Nuke episodes!

Goku’s real Saiyan name was a vegetable and that kid wasn’t someone you wanted to mess with either. While I suspect the bug race and killing was comparable to the Asian past-time among kids of bug fighting, I actually think Steven’s dilemma with killing the bug could be seen as a metaphor or foreshadowing related to his current issues with Rose and Bismuth. Just as he was under peer pressure to do something he was morally against, Steven probably feels pressure to be like Rose, as well as do what he must to protect his home and loved ones, which would involve shattering Homeworld Gems, something he is strongly morally against.

I don’t know what other times it may include, but considering Lars threw his phone away during Island Adventure, perhaps the extra Lars phone numbers aren’t fake, but could be from phones he lost.

good episode guys. I wish 3 of the 5 podcast hosts were not dead, though.

You know Steven isn’t the odd one out in Onion’s troop of weirdo friends. He is half alien so he himself is a weirdo and qualifies to be Onion’s friend.
