Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 98: Week two of the Summer Adventure

PodcastTitleGC13 and Hunter discuss the second week of the Summer Adventure event: Restaurant WarsKiki’s Pizza Delivery ServiceMonster ReunionAlone at Sea, and Greg the Babysitter.

This week had something we had been hoping for for a long time, and we’re pretty sure you now what it was. It also had Steven doing a very convincing Hunter impression, which was also fun.

Of course it also got a bit heavy, but in the sadness there was hope.

Each week during the Summer Adventure event we’ll do an episode briefly going over the previous week’s episodes; once the event is done we’ll buckle down and start doing a full episode for each episode of the event after new weekly episodes stop.

I’m surprised you didn’t make the connection that Steven inherited his habit of destroying things in Funland from Rose. Her smashing that console felt exactly like when Steven destroyed Meat Beat Mania to free Garnet.

The talk about Jamie’s age made me realize something. I presume that the Cool Kids are in their late teens but not over 20, and since Steven is 14-15, that would mean Greg in “Greg the Babysitter” is only about 5 or so years from becoming having Steven. It’s hard to imagine the young Greg we saw in this episode would become the more modern looking Greg in “Lion 3″‘s video. He must have gone through a lot to lose that much hair and gain that much gut in 5 years.

Regarding Greg, I’m going full Ronaldo and sticking with the time travel hypothesis: based on his really strange objection to having been witness to the rebellion in The Return, I’m assuming that through some sort of time travel he actually was there.

He didn’t say he was there. He said and probably repeated what Rose told him.

He said, while sounding very defensive and in a loop of saying exactly the wrong thing, “It’s not like I was there!”

Nobody’s saying you were, Mr. Universe. Or, at least, no one was.

I feel like if time travel were involved with greg, we would have seen it by now. Also, maybe having a kid just ages you a lot, stress and all.

GC, I have a feeling that when Homeworld comes, Steven is going to half-heal the corrupt gems into an army and they would all get their revenge on the diamonds, I thought that Steven would be able to heal them all the way though, until Monster Reunion aired.

Take a syringe, like a needle syringe not a baster one without a needle. Fill it with ketchup and insert it into the fries and fill it with ketchup as you take the needle out. Bam, ketchup in the fries. Your welcome~
Additional point, I did this a few times before, actually.

Didn’t you enjoy the Evangellion reference at the end of Kiki’s Delivery Service, oh Crewniverse and their anime. The scene with the two giant pizzas sticking out of the ocean, that mirrors a scene in the anime.

I think that she was Trapiche Emerald, cuz that’s what a Trapiche Emerald looks like: http://www.starruby.in/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/TREM10-0.80-carat-trapiche-emerald_LRG.jpg

Plus (due to Bismuth spoilers) we know that there is Biggs Jasper, Crazy Lace Agate, and Snowflake Obsidian, so we know that super specific gemstones *are* a thing in individual gems. So Trapiche Emerald is probably what she is. Plus the black in a trapiche emerald is an “impurity” made up of shale, which is a stone made of mud and dried minerals, which is a nice metaphor for the corruption.

We know that there are Gem-based animals cuz Lion was eating a gem lizard and Rose’s moss was a gem-based plant, like if you plucked a petal, would the flower poof? Lion was definitely eating a gem lizard though, whether that was a throwaway funny moment or whether that tells us anything about gem wildlife, who knows.

And lets not forget that Lapis can apparently use her water powers to control orange juice, when she got that glass from greg. Also when Jasper asked to fuse again I remember saying to myself “Oh god girl you gonna play this game again huh.” And lets not forget that Team Jasper is blasting off again.

Also in Greg the Babysitter, I hate how every time Rose displays any strength, the screen flashes so we don’t see the moment of impact. When she destroyed the triple ruby fusion, when she broke the ferris wheel controls, when she stopped the ferris wheel cars, just any time she displays her strength.

Jasper and her “villain of the day” nature these days, it’s not that unusual! Remember, Peridot had a whole arc where she was the “character of the day” with her wild and crazy Team Rocket style schemes. Jasper’s gotta burn out her own Skeletor villain arc and then she can start redemption. I honestly feel like Jasper is going to be our first character death, and that’s either a good thing or a very bad thing.
