GC13 discusses the first episode of Steven Universe’s first mid-season pre-finale: Mirror Gem.
Ah, to go back to a time when we as a fandom were so young, so innocent. “We didn’t know what we were getting into.” Or at least GC13 didn’t. But how could we have known so early? (Particularly at a time when the show was still in its monster-of-the-week phase.)
There was a lot of hype building up to it, and the episode was quite worth the hype. Fans will forever remember it as the first hint of story arc the series would give us, as well as the first new Gem we’d see (if that’s not worthy of hype, then what is?).

Pretty good
Now that you mention the shards and if the Homeworld would use to power the artefacts.
Thinking about it now, maybe the tecnology to make full living gems, could be used to make gem stuff without creating life?
Maybe like Stem cells, not exactly everthing to make life as we khow, but the material to make the stuff
I think cracking rebels all the time would have limitations of how many you could do, but maybe you would need a full lived gem to make those stuff? i don´t khow, and that could break my guess i will do now.
So take in account could have homeworld have another major way to produce gem related material, without need to wait for rebels or traitors and crack them up to do stuff
Did Rose and the rebels had a way to do that? probably not using the earth as resource to fuel the rebels war machine, maybe weapons, artilhery, others things necessary to supply them.
Maybe it goes a litle Xcomish, but they used the homeworld cracked gems like corpses in Xcom?
Because Homeworld could have used rubies to low guard stuff, as seen on The Aswer, but in Frybo, Pearl mentions using cracked crystals on armor to use in wars.
using this kind of remains, using pieces of what you have to combat, feels like a guerrila kind of thing against a big military, scavenging, using everthing with care to not waste.
And in Mirror Gem, and Frybo, Pearl looks okay in using stuff like that somehow.
So if all that makes any sense, this would be the Rose´s moment of “we had to do this because war” we feel it would come one day
And that would be one of the reasons homeworld began to use fused gems, maybe they went a step more in the moral event horizon after seeing Rose using the cracked gems like that, and what they learn from Garnet fusion
maybe i wenting overboard with it.
TL.DR version: Rose maybe could have used cracked enemy gems to fuel the rebels war, while maybe homeworld used a different method to produce the same, Rose and the rebels had to used the cracked gems to supply the war effort and that could have given ideas to Homeworld in using fusion monster (also with the intel on Garnet fusion).
I feel i am wrong in the way, lots of guessing, but that it is.
Maybe artefacts are meant to be that special, because they are made from a gem fully formed, and maybe that is why what i said before could be giberish.
Poor gc, all alone and sad. I wish I could have joined him for this, but I feel like I would not fit in…
Awwww… the crew is getting smaller and smaller day by day.
“It doesn’t seem that they got much information from Lapis except where exactly are the Crystal Gems are on earth.”
I don’t think that’s true. Remember in Catch and Release, Peridot knew that Steven healed Lapis’ gem. The only way she could’ve know that is from Lapis. I think Lapis said “I didn’t tell them anything! I swear!”, so she could keep Steven’s trust. Besides, I don’t think Homeworld is gonna let a gem randomly come back from a planet that was failed to be conquered. I think Homeworld got more information from Lapis, but she isn’t telling that to the Crystal Gems.

I think Lapis was telling the truth when she said she didn’t tell them. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jasper had a few more questions for her after they captured Steven, but that’s awfully late in the game.
Remember, if Jasper knew that Steven healed Lapis (and if Peridot knows, I’m pretty sure Jasper would too), she’d already have known Steven was Rose.
We don’t know quite how long Steven was knocked out between Return and Jail Break, but quite possibly after Jasper discovered “You [Steven] have the power of the Rose Quartz gem!”, she (or Peridot) did more interrogation of Lapis to find out what else she knew.
“Awwww… the crew is getting smaller and smaller day by day. ”
If there is no GC13, there is no crew, just nothing.
I do hope there are more people on next week’s. Nothing against GC, but I think this podcast works better with multiple people playing off each other (even when they go on wild tangents for a bit), and such an awesome episode as Ocean Gem deserves a spirited conversation.
Hey I love you guys I have watched all of the podcasts keep up the amazing work!
i don’t think you watch podcasts…
He can if he really wants to. Don’t judge him.
Her… XD I can watch podcasts if I want to
I think you should break schedule if it means you could get more people to attend the podcast. I’m not saying that this one was bad or boring, i just think that delaying the podcast could be beneficial in some cases(quality over quantity).
Also is there a walk-through/guide on getting a picture?
