Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 304: BMO

GC13 and David discuss the first episode of Adventure Time: Distant Lands, BMO.

Well, surprises mount upon surprises when watching BMO. When going to distant lands, you don’t expect to see many familiar faces—or familiar feet, in this case. Still, it’s great to have a continuation of Adventure Time, and BMO managed to be an entertaining lead in the debut episode.

In Defense of Ronaldo, Steven Universe’s Comedic Prophet

Ronaldo might be Steven Universe’s most controversial character—sure, there are characters who get more hate, but they’re unambiguous villains. For whatever reason, Ronaldo’s antics as primary comic relief fail to amuse, and that leaves viewers much less willing to forgive him for his mistakes, even if Steven Universe is all about forgiveness.

So it’s time to take another look at Ronaldo. Does he really deserve his bad reputation, or is Steven Universe safe from having to chalk up another bad guy on its books?

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 303: Children of the Dog

GC13 and David discuss Children of the Dog from Craig of the Creek. We hope it’s not spoiling too much to mention that it’s the return of Brigid (it does have “dog” in the title…).

Not to take anything away from how funny Craig of the Creek usually is, but Children of the Dog is especially hilarious. Oh the gags, and the rapid pacing keeping them flowing so, so well.

Watch out though, We’ve Got Fleas from OK KO has some competition now.

Cartoon Network June 2020 Ratings Report

Cartoon Network only premiered a few new episodes in June, so it’s time to look back at 2020. Teen Titans Go had the best average ratings on Saturdays with 433k while Ben 10 topped Sundays with 340k. Steven Universe: Future, of course, got 614k on Fridays when it aired its final ten episodes.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 302: He’s the Sheriff

GC13 and David discuss He’s the Sheriff from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.

What kind of king is King Snugglemagne? Obviously a bad one, but is he one doomed to failure, or does he have a chance to redeem himself? Obviously not as a sheriff (that job is terrible), but perhaps in some other way. Then there’s also the question of who could replace him as king? Obviously King Pinkie would be horrific, but would you rather see King Badgerclops or Queen Adorabat.

What I want to know is: where’s the caveman?

Rick and Morty’s Season 4 Ratings: Bad, But Not the End

Rick and Morty’s fourth season had a rocky reception, losing 45% of its viewers as the season went on. This is the first time a season of Rick and Morty has suffered such poor ratings, but will it be the last?

The first half of season four was responsible for a lot of “season four sucks” or “Rick and Morty is bad now”, but the second half got people saying good things about it again. Now that this team has experience writing for the show, hopefully Rick and Morty season 5 comes out with a strong first episode and a good rest of the season.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 301: Monster Visit

GC13 and David carry on with Summer Camp Island, discussing Monster Visit from the first half of the first season.

It’s not hard to discern what Monster Visit is about: the discomfort caused when you try to be something you aren’t for the sake of pleasing others. Much more difficult to figure out is where the Godmonster gets her skulls from.

All of Summer Camp Island, including the second season, is available on HBO Max if you’d like to give it a watch.

She-Ra: The Final Season Discussion (Part One)

Though She-Ra has now ended, the Lunar Sea Spire crew’s love for the show will never die. In the first part of their discussion about the final season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, the crew goes deep on Catra’s final transformation. Additional topics include sacrifice, pyromania, and proper spinal injury treatment.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 300: Aang vs She-Ra vs Steven Universe

GC13, Sophia, Ken, and David settle a very special versus debate for a very special three hundredth podcast episode.

So despite being sweethearts, of course all three are perfectly willing to fight to win. The big question is who will be our winner? Aang, the Avatar, Adora, the She-Ra, or Steven, the bearer of the pink Diamond?

Listen on and celebrate with us. These three heroes are truly mighty, but only one can be the victor.

Mao Mao and Badgerclops: Two Tales of Friendship

Mao Mao and Badgerclops have lots of stories to tell—and lots of insecurities as well. Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart spends a lot of time giving our heroic duo chances to grow as people, because as good as they are at beating up bad guys, they still lack in confidence.

So let’s look at two stories that Mao Mao and Badgerclops tell and see what they get wrong about the stories. Their preferred methods of inaccuracy tell us a lot about the heroes of Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.
