Root Beer Guy: Adventure Time’s Twistiest, Turniest Character

I’ve always loved the episode Root Beer Guy. When Adventure Time gets it right, it gets it really right. But while it’s a great episode and he’s a great character, Root Beer Guy is also Adventure Time’s weirdest tribute to the status quo. He may become captain of the Banana Guard, but Root Beer Guy is also killed off offscreen, only getting an on-screen death a season after the fact. What the heck, Adventure Time?

It’s alright though: that same episode brings him back to life. Root Beer Guy, now Dirt Beer Guy, resumes the old status quo living with Cherry Cream Soda and leaving the Banana Guard to its own devices. You couldn’t have brought a nicer guy back, Adventure Time.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 387: Covention

GC13 and David discuss Covention from The Owl House.

No, it’s not the most fun title to pronounce, but it’s the first we see of Lilith and the Emperor’s Coven, and oh boy is that a good battle between sisters (even if it’s not the safest event to watch from the stands).

But whether you’re part of the Swag Coven or the Cat Coven (the Swag Cat Coven, perhaps?), the important thing is that you do your duty and join a coven. The Emperor demands it.

Cartoon Network January 2022 Ratings Report

Cartoon Network only gave us premiers for two shows in January, but they gave us a LOT of premiers. Yes, Craig of the Creek premiered eight new episodes, and January also saw the series premier of We Baby Bears with twenty brand new episodes (and some very nice ratings).

And if you think that Cartoon Network didn’t premier many shows in January, just wait until next month… We might have to skip a month on the ratings report.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 386: Susie and Her Sister

GC13 and David discuss the Susie and Her Sister arc from Summer Camp Island’s fifth season.

Susie started out so nice and happy. What went wrong? Perhaps she was never meant to live in the moors… Taking that immortality potion probably wasn’t a great idea though.

Well, at least Mildred got to live her dream of being a hot corn girl before she lost her family. Hopefully everything turns out alright for her in the end…

Craig of the Creek, Season 4, and the Quest for Kenneth’s Cube

Season four of Craig of the Creek has begun in earnest, and we’ve already been introduced to the quest that’s going to tie it all together: the quest for Kenneth’s Cube, and the mysterious Heart of the Forest it unlocks. That’s the Craig of the Creek I know, with mysteries piled high.

JP said this quest could take all season, but if we finish this quest in season four then some shenanigans will have to be involved. Craig of the Creek has given us a mystery, and we can hope we don’t solve it in season four.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 385: The Domino Effect and Taking Charge

GC13 and David discuss The Domino Effect and Taking Charge from Amphibia.

So, we may not know why Anne’s phone battery was able to last so long, but at least we’ve finally found a source of power for it. Maybe in some later episode we’ll finally find out what Suspicion Island secretly was… Probably not a robot. Probably.

We may not have surprises, but we don’t need them either! And who do you think would win in a fight? Domino 2 or a Zapapede?

Three Things Hunter Can Tell Us About the World of The Owl House

Hunter hasn’t joined the main cast of The Owl House just yet, but it’s clear he’s going to. As a member of the Emperor’s Coven, there’s a lot he can teach us—about magic, about the Emperor, and even about Eda.

The Owl House isn’t going to set us up just to let us down; Hunter is going to teach us something. Let’s wait and see what Hunter can tell us about the world of The Owl House.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 384: The Intruder

GC13, Soren, and David discuss The Intruder, a very important episode of The Owl House.

Not only does The Intruder start Luz down the path of magic, it also introduces us to Eda’s curse, something that has defined her adult life and will come up again and again throughout the series.

And then there’s King. Whether he’s really an author or not, he’ll always be the king of demons in our book. Except for giraffes. Nobody likes those guys.

Three Storylines For Summer Camp Island to Wrap Up Before Its End

Summer Camp Island is coming to an end soon, but we can hope there are forty episodes to go. There had better be, because Summer Camp Island’s fifth season made things a lot more interesting and it’s going to need time to wrap everything up.

Can Summer Camp Island wrap everything up in thirteen episodes? It probably would. But can Summer Camp Island do that without feeling very rushed? No, no: these storylines need time to breathe.

Lunar Sea Spire podcast episode 383: Betsy and the Ghost

GC13 and David discuss the Betsy and the Ghost arc from the fifth season of Summer Camp Island.

Are you ready for sad? Because if you remember the first season of Summer Camp Island, you know that this can’t have a happy ending. Poor Betsy… At least now we know Susie wasn’t interfering with Betsy’s love life. On purpose, anyway.

This arc’s placement in the season is quite curious, by the way. Watch out for some of Susie’s other ghosts—you might be seeing them in the flesh in the next arc.
