GC13 and Sophia discuss the high-hype opening of the In Too Deep event: the two-parter of Super Watermelon Island and Gem Drill.
Even if you had seen (most of) the Alexandrite vs Malachite fight thanks to Cartoon Network UK’s carelessness with posting episode clips, it was still quite a sight to behold. Besides, we didn’t get to see the fire breath until the episode aired.
As for Gem Drill, that may have been the shortest two-hour journey ever portrayed in a cartoon, but since Peridot never leaves home without a blast cannon we got a wonderful joke about the controller for the Nintendo 64.

Hey Sophia Do have a link to the “it’s what Steven would want” tumblr post of the gems saving the watermelons?
I think this is the one she was talking about.
My idea for why the cluster started to become more coherent and was able to bubble itself even though the shards were so broken was because the shards essentially started to act a neurons; they were able to make-up the gaps in their “consciousness” which allowed them to have the will (along with Steven’s help) to decide they did not want to form and to bubble themselves.

Big fan, love the show, great episode, keep up the good work.
Shame that Ken and Hunter can’t make it to many episodes.
Yours faithfully
