GC13, special guest Max from The Ringo Zone podcast, Ken, and Dakota discuss Cat Fingers (the first appearance of Mayor Dewey, the Internet’s mayor!).
Amethyst’s penchant for shapeshifting is discussed, as is how Steven could possibly need a lecture about shapeshifting. Pearl’s hesitance to shapeshift is also brought up, as is the perfect first shape change for her to use (spoiler alert: “Womp! Womp!”).
A rather lengthy discussion about the nature of the early series also comes up, and about how different it is from the episodes that came later. Obviously the show was still drawing in fans, but perhaps it hadn’t quite found its footing.

Max brings a new gift to the Lunar Sea Spire…cursing, and I like it.
My personal theory is that Mr. Smiley, Kofi, and Fryman were all friends when they were little and that they get together on weekends to daydream about the fantastic jobs they WISH they had.
-When Amethyst and Jasper summon their weapons, it makes the same sound.
-My theory on Garnet’s rocket fists is that she just shapeshifts her hands away so her Gems are just at her wrists and then fires the gauntlets with her gems.
-Rose Quartz is shown wearing the same dress in all of Pearl’s flashbacks, so we can assume that she hasn’t had a regeneration in thousands of years.
-Why was Amethyst’s hair long in the Revolutionary War picture if she hadn’t even wanted long hair yet back then?
-I like to think that Pearls as Gems come from giant oyster creatures on Homeworld.
Pie is a pretty cool thing, ya know. A perfect circle filled with a perfectly even amount of food that humans spend an unnecessary amount of time making just to eat a few slices of.
It pleases her OCD.
Wait, I have a serious question for you GC because you are the “I memorize all the scenes” guy. That scene from the Stevenbomb 2.0 gif commercial where Amethyst shoves a whole plate in her mouth and pulls it out with a bite in it. I don’t recall that even happening. She’s got her old outfit on, so it must’ve been in a Season 1 episode, but I can’t recall her ever doing that.

I don’t recognize the scene. It might be a cut scene from Reformed that they decided to animate anyway for ads (or made special, like the Lion-in-boxes clip probably was).
