That’s not a spoiler, right? It’s the season finale of Steven Universe: it has to be huge! But some information has been circling around which is incredibly spoilerific! We mean it: if you don’t want to be spoiled on the season finale, you shouldn’t read this post. The good stuff is hidden below, and you’re definitely not going to want to click to read more.
Alright, the only ones still reading are people who don’t mind being spoiled, right? Well let’s start with the easy news (so that we can force the picture down a bit lower for people who clicked this link not knowing what it was): we have two new voice credits: Ruby and Sapphire.
Ruby will be voiced by Charlyne Yi, and Sapphire will be voiced by Erica Luttrell.
Ruby and Sapphire sound familiar, don’t they? They’re more than games, they’re birth stones that are red and blue. Red and blue… Why does that ring a bell? Alright, yes, those are games too, but they’re also the native colors of Garnet’s gems.
Note the shoulder pads and concealed eyes.
Yes, it looks like we’ll likely be getting confirmation that Garnet is a fusion by the time Jail Break has aired. Just look at her: it’s not hard to see why people look at her and think she could be half of Garnet.
This means that Steven’s “new” ally in Jail Break will probably be, in fact, a very old friend that he just hasn’t formally met yet.
We expect that Ruby and Sapphire will eventually fuse to form Garnet again, since three episodes from season one were shifted to season two where they work just as well. It’s possible, however, that they stay de-fused and those three episodes work just fine because they don’t feature Garnet.
We’re open to the possibility that Sapphire is some entirely new Gem, but… Come on: Garnet is obviously a fusion, Sapphire has similar visual elements to her, and getting red and blue Gems would be quite the coincidence otherwise.

And check the post again: someone finally posted an actual capture of the commercial so I was able to get a good still from it. The image quality is like five times as good now.
I don’t want to spoiler even more, but it seems that in the same credits on were Ruby and Sapphire were “revealed” there were the names of Jasper/Malachite, voiced by Kimberly Brooks, and probably the mom of Onion, named Vidalia http://niiikooooo.tumblr.com/post/112928099817/ok-so-after-seeing-the-ruby-sapphire-va-credits

Yeah, I saw that too. It’s gonna be crazy.
Assuming that the picture above of the blue gem with Steven is in fact Sapphire, if you look at the still from Fusion Cuisine where Alexandrite is splitting up and Garnet appears to split into two different gems, the one on the right looks quite a bit like Sapphire. Their silhouettes are almost identical if you just tilt your head a bit. It looks like the evidence is piling up that Garnet is a fusion and we will very soon get to see her component gems!

Looking at the screenshot of them de-fusing from Alexandrite, I think the one on the left is the one with the triangle gem (though it’s hard to be 100% sure). That would mean that we should expect to see a much stockier Ruby.
Malachite is the centipeedle mother, I bet! ^.^ Can’t wait for this week! I hope Lapis returns as well.
