Podcast Auditions

THE LUNAR SEA SPIRE PODCAST IS ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS!

That’s right, after over a year of closed doors, they’re finally being opened again! This time we’re actually looking for two new members, since Dakota and Ken have been unable to record for a while now.

So do you think you have what it takes to be a podcaster? Here’s some stuff you might want to consider.

  • Good discussion skills. Gotta have some interesting things to say, as well as being open enough to speak your mind but no so dominating that no one else has a chance to talk.
  • A Decent microphone. You don’t have to have a $300 Blue to get in, but it has to be something passable, audacity noise reduction can only do so much. But even a decent headset microphone can work.
  • A non-conflicting schedule. This one is definitely the most important. We usually record on the weekends (including Friday) in the evenings. The best podcaster on the planet would be very little help to us if they’re only free on Tuesday mornings.

So what do you need to do to audition?

Well first and foremost you’ll need audacity, which is what we use to record our episodes and edit them in post. Don’t worry, it’s free. You can download it at http://www.audacityteam.org/ . In the audacity we’d like you to make a recording in the following format:

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself. Your name (or username), favorite websites, other podcasts you might listen to, microphone you use, what made you become a fan of SU, stuff like that. You can even tell us your Reddit/Tumblr/Twitter/etc accounts if you like. This stuff isn’t that important, but it helps us get to know you better.
  2. Let us know your schedule. What do your weekend look like? How likely is your schedule to change? You won’t have to be there for every episode, but even  being able to record only half the time would be a big help to us.
  3. Then answer the following questions:
  • What’s your favorite SU episode and why?
  • Who’s your favorite character and why?
  • Why do you want to become a podcaster?

After finishing the recording, save it as [Your Name].ogg file and email it to LSSAuditions@gmail.com. In the subject bar put “[Your name] LSS Audition”.

Unless something goes awry, we should announce the new podcasters next week.

Thank you!
