GC13 and Sophia are here to talk about Steven vs Amethyst. Yes, the episode turned out to be far more innocuous than the title sounded back when we first learned about it, but Amethyst was still being hit with the feels.

This episode is a top contender on some favorite lists, and with moments like the realization of Amethyst’s reformation or the first mention of the Pearl Prize Pouch (!) there’s a lot to love.

Never mind the titular fight between Steven and Amethyst. Steven is one tough boy, but Amethyst is a natural fighter and is no slouch. Even if they were fighting for the title of Worst Crystal Gem, it’s not something either of them really deserve. (Neither of them has ever tried to kill their leader, for instance.) Besides, they’re both great at being bad. 🙂

GC13 and Sophia talk about Crack the Whip (which, despite popular demand, was about Amethyst rather than being a crossover with Johnny Test 😉 ).

Despite some initial microphone difficulties, it’s an episode worth listening to because Crack the Whip is an episode worth watching. It has Stevonnie riding Lion into battle, for crying out loud. What more could you want? Perhaps the start of a character arc for Amethyst? (Or at least the final phase of her big one.)

Lion is just great by the way. Whether he’s riding in a ferris wheel, helping bother seagulls, or simply dressed for a rave he’s fun to have around (even if it’s rather suspicious that he’d just so happen to be around now…).

Just remember: in the heat of battle, you’re not going to have a swimsuit.

Plus, if that’s not enough to hype you up, the date should: Monday, May 8, 2017. Seventeen days away. Re-runs are even resuming next week, as if that wasn’t enough reason to be excited.

GC13, Sophia, and Hunter discuss an episode that it can be kind of hard to know how to feel about sometimes: Gem Hunt.

It’s an episode where important stuff happens, especially some crucial character building. However for whatever reason it just feels… Strange. It’s hard to place.

What’s easy to see, however, is how precious Pearl is in this episode. She is pearlfection incarnate, and is cute as can be. Which was your favorite Pearl line? It might be hard to pick just one.

That’s not to say that Connie wasn’t adorable as well, nor that Steven didn’t put in a good performance. There’s plenty of cute to go around.

Official soundtrack to be released on June 2, 2017

Cartoon Network has finally heard one of our many cries: on June 2, we’ll be getting an official soundtrack release of some kind. This comes a day after they tweeted out a poll asking if people wanted one. (Obviously we were getting one anyway, but we appreciate their use of hype.)

We still don’t have any information about which songs will be included, though Aivi has tweeted that she and Surasshu remastered the tracks that will be in the release.

As of now there are only plans for a digital release, but if you’re interested in seeing Steven Universe get a vinyl soundtrack release Ms. Sugar has tweeted her request that you let Cartoon Network know what you want. 🙂

Greg starts his flashback with a marvelous song (which has Rose being about as adorable as is legally allowed on television), and while we don’t learn anything really weighty in the plot it’s great to see what Rose was like in her casual hours (when not waging war to defend the Earth).

Sour Cream was apparently Super Baby back as a child, with not only the best possible face and voice but the ability to crawl up tall objects while offscreen. Can his powers of chill defeat Greg’s laser-sharp focus?
